ABOUT ME

 

Hi friends! My name is Melanie Asato, I'm the owner and dyer of Big Little Yarn Co. This company was started in July 2020 during the height of the global Covid-19 pandemic. Stuck at home with a whole lot of time on my hands, I began to pour all of my energy into creating different colorways and honing my skills as a yarn dyer. 

I have loved yarn and all things fiber since I first learned to knit in the summer of 2012. My ultimate dream since I first discovered knitting was to be able to touch yarn everyday for a living. I'm happy to say, with the birth of Big Little Yarn Co. and with all your love and support, that I'm able to live out my dream!

I was born and raised in Southern California, but am currently working and operating out of my studio in Hyogo, Japan. Being Japanese American, both America and Japan hold a special place in my heart. This is a common theme that you'll see in my work, and I hope I can share a little bit of my culture with you all through my yarn!

Each colorway I create is made with lots of love and care, and I hope that those feelings will pass on to you and the projects you create!
