Inspired by beautiful Japanese azaleas, these happy pinks, oranges, and purples definitely are the epitome of spring. I created this colorway to give off the “fresh springtime flower garden” vibe, and I think it really hits the nail on the head if I do say so myself 😗👌🏼.

Kingyo Sukui is inspired by the traditional Japanese matsuri game of the same name!  In this traditional game, there’s usually a small pool of goldfish, and the aim is to scoop as many of them as you can into your own bowl using a paper scooper (or a “poi”) until your scooper breaks apart! This colorway is reminiscent of a pool of cute speckled goldfish, just ready to be scooped!

🏮Paper Lantern🏮 is something that you can see everywhere during a natsu matsuri (summer festival), and when strung together are very beautiful during a hot summer night. Paper lanterns are especially common during Obon, since they’re believed to guide ancestral spirits back home. I wanted to create a colorway that was more light than dark, and could portray the warm glow of a lantern during a dark night. This colorway would be so much fun to knit - the dark blue-black section will create short blips in the knitted fabric, which would be so pretty in socks or even a textured top.

🎆Hanabi 🎆(or fireworks) is a super fun colorway filled with bright and happy speckles that are reminiscent of the beautiful firework shows (or a “hanabi taikai”) that usually happen during a matsuri. These shows are super popular, so they were (of course) cancelled this year 😖. Luckily, this yarn’s bright splashes and specks of color really brighten up my mood when I dye them, and it’s a bit like creating my own fireworks show on yarn 😊!

“Summer Dusk” is the perfect summertime pink that the sky becomes when dusk falls over our neighborhood. It's a darker and brighter pink than my "Sakura" colorway, but isn't bright enough to be too overwhelming.

I’m so happy to introduce the special collab colorway, “Autumn In Tokyo” that I’ve created with Mina of @knittingexpat to go along with her Tokyo socks pattern for her #aroundtheworldin8socks collection! When Mina came to me requesting a custom colorway inspired by torii gates (symbolic gates usually found in Shinto temples) to go along with her sock pattern inspired by her visit to Tokyo, I was more than happy to oblige 😊⛩! “Autumn in Tokyo” is inspired by the iconic, bright orange-red of torii gates as well as the beautiful autumnal leaves around them as seasons change. It’s still a bit early for fall, but I think the fiery orange-red fits in nicely with summer, and would be the perfect transitional colorway into autumn 🍁.

Coraline is one of my all time favorites in general, and not just because of the story but also because of the beautiful handcrafted-ness of its creation. It is a masterfully made stop-motion film that is equally cute and creepy (button eyes? 🧵No thnx), and is based off of a book from one of my favorite authors, Neil Gaiman. I wanted to create a colorway that had the same dark, but ethereal ~other world~ vibe with its deep blues and purples.

“The Shining” is based off of the classic Kubrick movie you all have at least heard about. This movie is ICONIC and although it’s very different from the original Stephen King novel, I think its a work of art in its own way. Building off of the iconic orange carpet of the Overlook Hotel, I wanted to complement it with colors that represented Jack, Wendy, and Danny. I love the bright autumnal colors that came out of it, and I hope you love it too!

For this colorway, I was inspired by the contrast between the flowery, happy colors that fill the entire film and the horrible events that occur during the cult’s midsummer celebration. I didn’t want to make the colorway too bright, since it’s based off of a horror movie, but wanted to incorporate colors that look flowery at first glance, but can be seen as subtly sinister (if that makes sense?)! I went a little bit out of my comfort zone when creating this colorway, so I hope you get the flowery-with-a-sinister-twist vibe that I was going for!

All skeins are carefully dyed with acid dye, washed and rinsed, however some bleeding may still occur. Each skein is unique and therefore colors may vary slightly from one to the next.
